We accomplished much this week:) I have trialled a new approach with the children and met with great success. Instead of the children having weekly schedule's they had a weekly expectations sheet. Being able to accomplish some subjects in large chunks appealed to most of them. For some they choose to do a bit a day. Dominic was the only one who struggled with time management and discipline issues, (no surprise) but amazingly he managed to do most all on the last day (shades of his father) I've listed below what they actually did.

Mariah

Maths-5 pgs+ per week of Singapore Maths. Mariah had a breakthrough with large additions using the 100s chart, she was so excited.


Science-
Finish reading(mum) Russ the Tree Kangaroo by Leslie Rees
Narration
1+ notebook page of information and pictures on tree kangaroos.

Language Arts


Dictation
- 5 Sentences per week. The Elves and the Shoemaker.

Spelling – Schonell
12 words, Test.

Copywork- 5 lines at least

Literature- 4 chapters of Cherry Tree Time at Bullerby by Astrid Lindgren. Mariah made huge progress in reading this was a very big effort. I'm so impressed with what a good reader she is.

Faith- Sacramental Preparation. Mariah did several chapters of ST Joseph First Communion Catechism. She enjoys this book more than the 'Jesus and I'.


History-

1.Write a narration on the eruption of Pompeii.

2.Include the eruption on the timeline, (Malachi wrote this)
.
3 Jesus changed Simon’s name to Peter which means Rock, Paint a rock.

4.Make a diorama with an image of Mary inside. Use a shoe box. Draw your own image or use a colouring in picture. Decorate.

This was a powerful time in the growth of the church and the martyrs many times were a tool God used to convert other people to Him. Make sure you consider this when doing your research. Xavier gave me an oral narration.

4.Make a poster of your favourite Marian Prayer. Decorate.

5. Read ‘The First Christians by Marigold Hunt’ Read three chapters.

6. Read at least half the book of ‘The Man who never Died.’

2. Print an outline map of Mexico. Locate and record topographic features.

f. Does the country share its borders? Name these.
g. What are the major cities?

4. Make a map from salt dough.
1 cup of salt to 2 cups of plain flour; about 1 cup of flour. Dough is to be stiff but sticky. Could colour with food colouring or paint when finished.

5. Do the geographic features of Mexico divide the country into separate regions? If so, in what ways?

Faith- Intensively researched (6 hours) Our Lady Help of Christians and designed a poster. Reported her findings.

2. Include Saul’s conversion on the timeline
